the end of posts
Sadly, Blogger does not support posting from handheld devices. Since I only use handheld devices, I'm forced to find the device supported by Blogger, an unnecessary complication.
I asked Ilze if she's going to continue with this blog and she felt and I concur that it's easier to post to FB.
Have fun, see our vacation pictures on FB.

New Orleans in a neighborhood.
A view from our rented house outside of the typical New Orleans neighborhood. This area, Franklin Street, is a typical neighborhood that was flooded by Katrina and is still recovering.
We choose to tour the city by public transportation, our usual means of getting around in Chicago. New Orleans offers seniors public transportation at 40 cents with a free transfer.
Returning home from a day of touring the French Quarter and the Garden District we were waiting for our bus. When we began boarding fellow travelers and the driver asked if we really wanted the Franklin Street bus. We figured that the neighborhood isn't an area that tourist stay in.

Rainy day
Last day in New Orleans. Turned cold and rainy. Bob doesn't like all these changes in temperatures. We are in a storm front moving in the same direction of our trip, naturally.

Getting ready part 2
Today our children will join us for dinner, Malnati's pizza, before we leave Monday for almost two months. The weather looks good for Monday: no rain, no snow storms. I can't wait to see green as we travel south. Our plan is to stay in New Orleans for a few days before traveling to Cocoa Beach, Florida, where we rented a cottage for a month. On our way back up north we will stay a week in the Blue Ridge Mountains and finally to McMinnville, Tennessee to visit my sister Ruta.
