A view from our rented house outside of the typical New Orleans neighborhood. This area, Franklin Street, is a typical neighborhood that was flooded by Katrina and is still recovering.
We choose to tour the city by public transportation, our usual means of getting around in Chicago. New Orleans offers seniors public transportation at 40 cents with a free transfer.
Returning home from a day of touring the French Quarter and the Garden District we were waiting for our bus. When we began boarding fellow travelers and the driver asked if we really wanted the Franklin Street bus. We figured that the neighborhood isn't an area that tourist stay in.
Photos from our front door.
